Mary Kay Inc. released a report detailing its global sustainability program, Enriching Lives Today for a Sustainable Tomorrow, and its vision for the social impact it will make through the year 2030 and beyond.

The Mary Kay Ash Foundation announced the donation of 50 grants of $20,000 each to domestic violence shelters across the country. This donation is expected to serve and support nearly 150,000 women.

Mary Kay Inc., through its corporate sustainability and stewardship efforts, celebrated planting more than 1.2 million trees to date. This milestone follows the completion of a 69-acre reforestation project to revitalize Florida’s Econfina Creek Wildlife Management Area, realized through a partnership with the Arbor Day Foundation.

From customized packaging to messaging to building unique product combinations, consumers are willing to pay top dollar for customization. According to a study by YouGov, 49 percent of Americans are interested in buying customized items.

Mary Kay Inc. participated in a virtual learning exchange called “Women Leaders Protecting the Coral Triangle’s Threatened Biodiversity and Endangered Species.”

Mary Kay Inc. released a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) statement celebrating Global Diversity Awareness Month and highlighting the transformative changes the company has enacted within its model, as well as through external touchpoints. 

The Mary Kay Ash Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Mary Kay, has awarded grants to ten researchers who are conducting groundbreaking research in cancers that primarily affect women. Each researcher was awarded a $100,000 grant for their novel research proposals.

Mary Kay’s report included five pillars: business excellence, product stewardship, responsible manufacturing, women’s empowerment and social impact. Among these pillars are three key targets the company commits to achieving by 2030.

Mary Kay Inc. announced a new partnership with Dr. Jack Gilbert, professor of pediatrics at the University of California San Diego School of Medicine and professor of microbial oceanography at UC San Diego Scripps Institution of Oceanography, as it studies the skin’s microbiome.

In 2017, Mary Kay launched a joint project with UNDP China, the China Women’s Development Foundation, the China International Center for Economic and Technical Exchanges, the Women’s Federation of Yunnan Province and Yongren County Government called “SDG Pilot Village Project: Women-focused Poverty Reduction and Sustainable Development.”

A strong set of statements provides the guideposts to help a young company become one of those “established” companies that we all look up to. They are the foundation to a culture that attracts and keeps people excited to do something special.
